    Description

    For sale is a vintage, and very rare, limited-edition, non-metal* souvenir building replica of the famed M. H. de Young Memorial Museum, commonly referred to as the de Young -- a fine arts museum located in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park.
    It is
    not
    found in either of the two standard catalogues:
    Monumental Miniatures
    or
    Replica Buildings: A Visual History
    .
    *Note: I describe the model as "non-metal", though I found an
    online
    source that describes it as "cast in metal/heavy resin," which indicates to me a combination of the two materials that could account for its weight of
    approximately 1 3/4 lbs
    .
    This model was purchased shortly after the museum's opening in 2005 and is in excellent, like new condition.
    It measures 8 5/8" wide by 4 7/8" deep by 2 1/2" tall including its base.
    Compare photos of the actual museum to get an idea of the model's outstanding attention to detail.
    The name of the museum is engraved in the building on the right side as well as on a metal nameplate attached to the base.
